High Velocity Central Air Conditioning

Schedule an Appointment!

The perfect solution for cooling older or space-constrained homes

High Velocity A/C systems are a perfect solution for adding central air conditioning to homes that aren’t compatible with traditional central air systems. Many older homes have space constraints or plaster walls that don’t allow them to fit the larger ductwork used in traditional systems. High Velocity systems use 2” flexible ducts to deliver cold air in a way that can be designed into any home.

Why Choose Unique Indoor Comfort?

Unique Indoor Comfort was deeply involved in the development of the high velocity cooling principle. As a result, we’ve pioneered many of the current engineering practices and installation approaches. Why work with a traditional HVAC contractor who has little or no experience when you could work with the experts who developed the technology?

In short, Unique Indoor Comfort has unrivaled expertise in retrofitting high velocity air conditioning systems into older homes or space constrained situations.

How Does it Work?

High velocity systems deliver cool air through 2 inch flexible ducts that can be easily engineered and maneuvered to fit within the framework of your existing home.

These ducts deliver air at nearly 4x the velocity of traditional systems, creating air currents that help to circulate air around the room. This prevents air stagnation and helps to ensure a more consistent temperature throughout your home.

The air handlers are also smaller than those often used in traditional central cooling systems, meaning that they can easily fit into a small attic, crawlspace or even a closet, keeping them hidden and out of the way.

COST

Retrofitting a central air conditioning system into a home is a significant project, no matter how you look at it, but high velocity systems are usually less expensive than traditional ones because they require significantly less modification to the home during installation.

Traditional ducts are commonly 6 inches in diameter, 3 times the size of high velocity ducts, and have large “trunklines” that are often 8” x 18”. They generally require much more space to install, and often call for significant modification to the home’s design, like adding soffits and other architectural details.

SPACE

The size and flexibility of high velocity ducts means that vent placement isn’t dictated by house and room design, but where you want them.
